Volleyball Recap: Redfield Comes Up Short

Redfield lost against Groton on October 4th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pheasants lost 3-0 to the Tigers.

Redfield took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-18, 25-21.

Their offense was headlined by Hayden Gall and Kinley Smith, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Layla Hardie and her 12 assists. Finally, Smith was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Jerica Locke, who had ten digs and four assists. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.

Redfield's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Groton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Redfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Wolsey-Wessington on the 27th. As for Groton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Faulkton on the 27th.
