Basketball Recap: Northwest Halifax Piles Up the Points Against Rocky Mount Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest Halifax). They breezed by the Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars to the tune of 54-23 on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-6.

It was another big night for Keyara Rook, who posted 30 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatyanna Mcgee, who put up 12 points.

Rocky Mount Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mykhalah Lynch, who earned four points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks. Lynch is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jada Silver, who had nine points in addition to six boards and three steals.

The win made it two in a row for Northwest Halifax and bumps their season record up to 5-5. As for Rocky Mount Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Northwest Halifax wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-22 loss against Garner on the 4th. As for Rocky Mount Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 32-0 victory against KIPP P on the 7th.
