Cape Fear had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Culpeper County on Monday. The Colts' pitchers stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brycen Talley was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Landon Underwood was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Cape Fear's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Culpeper County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Cape Fear will challenge Terry Sanford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Colts surely won't give up without a fight. As for Culpeper County, they will square off against Gray's Creek at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
