Softball Game Preview: Frenship Tigers vs. Permian Panthers

Frenship has gone 8-2 against Permian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Frenship is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Frenship got the win against Odessa by a conclusive 16-4. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bronchos recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Melody Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Alex Rangel and Burkleigh Cerda did most of the damage at the plate: Rangel fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4, while Cerda fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs Rangel has posted since back in February. Calleigh Compean was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Permian challenged San Angelo Central on Tuesday. The Panthers walked away with an 8-5 win over the Bobcats.

Permian's victory bumped their record up to 16-6-1. As for Frenship, their win bumped their record up to 12-14.
