Forest City had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Western Wayne Wildcats on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Foresters as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Jeremy Slick was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Slick was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Slick wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evan Oneill, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Another was Ethan Mead, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games.
