Preview: Ninety Six Wildcats vs. Saluda Tigers
The Ninety Six Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Saluda Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ninety Six comes in on four and Saluda on five.
Ninety Six put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Abbeville 43-16 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Ninety Six has posted since December 1, 2023.
Ninety Six relied on the efforts of Janiyah Squire, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Olivia Coster, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Coster has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Fortner, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Saluda beat Emerald 43-38 on January 4th.
Ninety Six's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42 points. As for Saluda, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Ninety Six was able to grind out a solid win over Saluda when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 37-27. Will Ninety Six repeat their success, or does Saluda have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
