Hazleton Area had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-48 victory over the Wyoming Valley West Spartans. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Spartans are ranked 603rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win got Hazleton Area back to even at 7-7. As for Wyoming Valley West, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Dallas the next time they take the court. Hazleton Area will head out to face Dallas at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, while Wyoming Valley West will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
