Recap: Liberty Patriots vs. Silverado Skyhawks
The Liberty Patriots entered their tilt with the Silverado Skyhawks with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Liberty walked away with an 84-73 win over Silverado on Friday. Liberty's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading Liberty to victory were Tyus Thomas and Tyler Bright. Thomas scored 18 points along with six assists and five rebounds, while Bright scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Bright scored 15 or more points. Andre Porter was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Silverado still got an impressive performance from Cyril Franklin, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. Franklin is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kayden Goss, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Silverado smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Liberty's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for Silverado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.
Liberty won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Arbor View at 6:15 p.m. on January 20th. Arbor View has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 477 points over their last seven matchups. As for Silverado, they will be playing at home against Coronado at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Coronado knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 matchups -- so hopefully Silverado likes a good challenge.
