With a playoff win on the line, Paraclete rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Brea Olinda Wildcats, sneaking past 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Spirits sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Paraclete got a great performance from Cole Mercier as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Paraclete's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Abraham Perez, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Paraclete hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.

Paraclete's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-13. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Brea Olinda, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-9.

Coming up, Paraclete will challenge Fullerton at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spirits 3.8, the Indians 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Brea Olinda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
