Basketball Preview: King's Christian vs. Atlantic Christian Cougars
King's Christian will be playing at home against the Atlantic Christian Cougars at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
King's Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Cumberland Christian at home to the tune of 81-22. The victory was nothing new for King's Christian as they're now sitting on six straight.
King's Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Kilgore, who scored 20 points. It was the first time this season that Kilgore scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Lawlor, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Christian entered their tilt with the with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Atlantic Christian blew past the 66-40.
Atlantic Christian's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Charlie Costello, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Costello has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. Noah Stokes was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds.
King's Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Atlantic Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. King's Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.1 points per game. However, it's not like Atlantic Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 62 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
