League recap: Lutheran West stuns Fairview in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lutheran West, who took down 527th ranked Fairview, 28-19.

The Longhorns moved up to 518 from 548 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Patriot - Stripes. Lutheran West was able to make move up by topping the Warriors 28-19.

Clearview's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Roger Engle threw for 223 and two touchdowns and Gerrell Williams had 134 yards receiving. On the ground Chad Anderson chipped in 175 yards. Ryan Vargo helped Clearview's passing attack out by catching two balls for 29 yards.

Jay Banyasz provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Columbia topped the Clippers. He completed seven passes for 136 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 161 yards. Banyasz's favorite target this week was Ben Verbus, who caught one pass for 38 yards.

Clearview's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Clippers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Engle has thrown for 1491 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Williams has 26 catches for 699 yards. Anderson leads the league in rushing with 1544 yards.

The Raiders extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Clearview, 51-25. The victory was the ninth in a row for Columbia.
