Football Recap: Catholic - N.I. Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Catholic - N.I. had no problem doing just that on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers 33-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since September 15, 2023.

It was another big night for Luke Landry, who threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing yards (28). Joseph Leblanc was another key player, picking up 44 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Despite the loss, Calvary Baptist Academy still got an impressive performance from James Simon, who rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Abram Wardell, who threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes.

Catholic - N.I. pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.4 points. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Catholic - N.I. Panthers take on the Dunham Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Dunham will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Catholic - N.I. surely won't give up without a fight. Calvary Baptist Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
