Williams was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Live Oak Lions 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won eight in a row.

Williams took Live Oak into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 20-25, 17-25, 15-6.

Williams got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yurydia Rocha out in front who had 12 kills, ten digs, three aces, and one block. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Paiz, who had five digs and three aces.

The victory got Williams back to even at 1-1. As for Live Oak, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
