Baseball Recap: Fishburne Military Comes Up Short

If Fishburne Military was riding high fresh off their 11-4 takedown of Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Caissons lost 7-0 to The Covenant Eagles on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Caissons in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Fishburne Military saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Ezersky, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Ezersky is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Fishburne Military's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for The Covenant, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fishburne Military will challenge Virginia Episcopal School at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Caissons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bishops have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. As for The Covenant, they are taking a road trip to challenge Eastern Mennonite at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Flames at the right time seeing as the Flames are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
