Basketball Recap: Douglass Eagles vs. Friendly Patriots

The Douglass Eagles can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They blew past Friendly 60-38. The victory was just what Douglass needed coming off of a 88-45 loss in their prior contest.

Douglass' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Courtney Smith, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Ford, who scored 16 points.

Despite the defeat, Friendly saw an underclassman step up: Jasmine Germany scored 21 points along with five steals. Germany has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Sanaa Thomas was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 17 rebounds.

Douglass' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Friendly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Douglass will head out on the road to face off against the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Friendly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Largo's defense has only allowed 29.7 points per game this season, so the Patriots' offense will have their work cut out for them.
