Basketball Recap: Pierz Comes Up Short

Pierz was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pine City Dragons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pioneers of the 71-70 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Pierz's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Pine City, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.

Pierz didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-67 loss against Foley on the 30th. Pine City has also already played their next contest, a 62-55 win against Moose Lake/Willow River on the 31st.
