Truckee and Churchill County are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Truckee Wolverines will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Churchill County Greenwave at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Truckee has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Last Wednesday, Truckee came up short against Spanish Springs and fell 16-13. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (11), the Wolverines still had to take the loss.

Jackson Wicks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhys Roberts, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Churchill County entered their contest against North Valleys on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Churchill County fell just short of North Valleys by a score of 9-7.
Anthony Gonzalez and Chase Carnahan stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gonzalez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Carnahan scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Carnahan is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Nathaniel Zackery was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Churchill County now has a losing record of 3-4-1. As for Truckee, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Churchill County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Truckee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. It's a different story for Churchill County, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Truckee's hitters?
Truckee skirted past Churchill County 3-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Truckee repeat their success, or does Churchill County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
