            Softball Preview: Clarence Red Devils vs. Grand Island Vikings        
        
		
        
        
            The Clarence Red Devils will challenge the Grand Island Vikings at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Clarence: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Grand Island has snatched up eight consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Clarence fell victim to Frontier and their airtight pitching crew  on Wednesday. They lost  8-0 to the Falcons.
Meanwhile,  Grand Island unfortunately witnessed the end of their  five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of North Tonawanda by a score of  5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  loss the Vikings have suffered  against the Lumberjacks since May 10, 2019.
 Natalie Kopf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits.
 At the plate, Grand Island saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Kalie Farkas, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run and one  double.
 Grand Island's  defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Clarence, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
