Basketball Recap: Mason Skidmore Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Carpinteria

Santa Ynez won the last time they faced Carpinteria and things went their way on Saturday too. The Santa Ynez Pirates enjoyed a cozy 80-65 win over the Carpinteria Warriors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Santa Ynez got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Skidmore out in front who went 7 of 16 on his way to 17 points. The dominant performance gave Skidmore a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jude Pritchard, who posted 17 points and five rebounds.

Santa Ynez is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Carpinteria, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Santa Ynez wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-54 loss against Bishop Diego on the 6th. As for Carpinteria, they will welcome Santa Paula at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Santa Paula's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
