Preview: Golden Demons vs. Alameda Pirates
Golden is 4-0 against Alameda since February of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Golden Demons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alameda Pirates at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Golden's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Alameda has been banged up by 16 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
On Wednesday, Golden strolled past Wheat Ridge with points to spare, taking the game 60-43. Given Golden's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Wheat Ridge is ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Golden got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shad Garnett out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Slade Pike, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Alameda suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They were dealt a 60-23 defeat at the hands of Evergreen. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alameda in their matchups with Evergreen: they've now lost five in a row.
Golden's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Alameda, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Golden against Alameda in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 65-23 win. With Golden ahead 33-9 at the half, the match was all but over already.
