Softball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 15-5 to the Cobden Appleknockers. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Appleknockers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Kiara Lane was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Jakiya Jones also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. Cobden has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Meridian is taking a road trip to take on Elverado at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cobden, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-4 loss against Pope County on the 27th.
