Basketball Recap: Grace Lee Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Butler

DePaul College Prep lost to Butler back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. It was close, but the DePaul College Prep Rams capped 2024 with a 58-55 victory over the Butler Lynx. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

DePaul College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grace Lee led the charge by going 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eleanor Farrell, who posted 11 points.

DePaul College Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive contests.

Butler's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xyanna Walton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Walton's afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cyra Conwell, who had 15 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

DePaul College Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Butler, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

DePaul College Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-43 defeat against Rolling Meadows on the 28th. As for Butler, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-34 win against Lane Tech on the 28th.
