Softball Recap: Toledo Extends Winning Streak to 13

Toledo waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They blew past the Waldport Irish 13-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-11 back in April.

Kealey Coxen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Gracee Retherford was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Lindsey Otis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Toledo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waldport only posted an OBP of .143.

Toledo's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Waldport, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season.

Toledo will face off against Bandon/Pacific at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waldport, they are taking a road trip to face off against Reedsport at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
