Football Recap: Lyndhurst Skates Past Palisades Park/Leonia with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lyndhurst). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-0 win over the Palisades Park/Leonia Tigers. The Golden Bears pushed the score to 44-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had no chance of recovering from.

Lyndhurst found their leader in sophomore Avery Cano, who rushed for 156 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, and also threw for one yards and one touchdown on his only pass of the game. Jayson Bellenger was another key player, throwing for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Lyndhurst, bringing their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.3 points on average over those games. As for Palisades Park/Leonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lyndhurst will challenge Becton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Bears will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. As for Palisades Park/Leonia, they are taking a road trip to take on Elmwood Park on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Crusaders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
