Basketball Game Preview: New Knoxville Rangers vs. Parkway Panthers

The New Knoxville Rangers will venture away from home to challenge the Parkway Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. New Knoxville is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Last Friday, New Knoxville came up short against Elida and fell 44-32. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 578th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 272nd).

Despite their defeat, New Knoxville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Addi Albers, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 34.4% of New Knoxville's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Albers, who scored ten points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Parkway). They breezed by South Adams to the tune of 63-13 on Monday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-7.

New Knoxville's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Parkway, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

New Knoxville might still be hurting after the 47-26 defeat they got from Parkway in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can New Knoxville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
