Softball Recap: Lawson Comes Up Short

Lawson lost against Pope John Paul II back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lightning lost 25-10 to the Knights. That's two games in a row now that the Lightning have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Makenzie Cotton and Joi Stewart did some serious damage despite the final result: Cotton scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Stewart scored a run while going 1-for-4. Cotton is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Destiny Steele was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Lawson has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Pope John Paul II, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Lawson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-1 victory against Glencliff on the 15th. Pope John Paul II has also already played their next matchup (against Springfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
