Preview: Chelan Mountain Goats vs. Cascade Kodiaks
The Chelan Mountain Goats will head out on the road to face off against the Cascade Kodiaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Chelan was beaten by Cashmere 58-7. Chelan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Cascade, who are still winless after their eighth game. They were outmatched by Omak on the road and fell 53-12. While losing is never fun, Cascade can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Omak is ranked 124th).
This is the second loss in a row for Chelan and nudges their season record down to 5-3. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Cascade, their loss was their 12th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Chelan beat Cascade 21-12 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chelan since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
