Softball Game Preview: Emmett Huskies vs. Middleton Vikings

Emmett hasn't had much luck against Middleton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Emmett will face off against Middleton at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Emmett is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Skyview.

Oakley Scheibe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Cassidy Ford made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Lydia Andrews was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Middleton faced Capital in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Middleton fell just short of Capital by a score of 9-8. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sydney Qualls was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Ashlynn Pohl also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Emmett's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Middleton, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.

Emmett might still be hurting after the 18-7 defeat they got from Middleton in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Emmett avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
