The Hunt Warriors will face off against the Smithfield-Selma Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hunt has four straight victories, Smithfield-Selma has 22 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Hunt barely beat C.B. Aycock the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Hunt's way against C.B. Aycock on Tuesday as Hunt made off with a 13-1 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by nine runs or more this season.

Stone Massey tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hunt is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Seth Evans was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Ryan Bass was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Smithfield-Selma scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Southeast Raleigh by a score of 9-7.
Smithfield-Selma saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was EJ Stridiron, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Stridiron's first of the season. Another was Gabe Evans, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Hunt pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Smithfield-Selma, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Smithfield-Selma's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hunt has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. It's a different story for Smithfield-Selma, though, as they've only averaged .290. Will they be able to contain Hunt's hitters?
Everything went Hunt's way against Smithfield-Selma in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Hunt made off with a 12-1 win. Will Hunt repeat their success, or does Smithfield-Selma have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
