Softball Game Preview: Everglades City Gators vs. Mason Classical Academy Paladins

The Everglades City Gators will take on the Mason Classical Academy Paladins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Everglades City has three straight victories, Mason Classical Academy has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Everglades City took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Community School of Naples, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Everglades City came out on top in a nail-biter against Community School of Naples on Thursday, sneaking past 14-13.

Ava Ramos was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (four). Gena Collins was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4.

Meanwhile, Mason Classical Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Seacrest Country Day on Tuesday and fell 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Paladins have lost by just one run.

Everglades City's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Mason Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Everglades City's way against Mason Classical Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Everglades City made off with a 20-5 victory.
