Basketball Recap: Currituck County Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Currituck County had won seven straight home games dating back to last season and Arianna White did her part to make it eight on Saturday. The Currituck County Knights snuck past the Holmes Aces with a 39-34 victory thanks in part to White, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Currituck County's points.

Despite the loss, Holmes still got an impressive performance from Chloe Chappell, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Holmes is 2-1 when Chappell posts eight or more rebounds, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ashayah Boston, who posted four points and five boards.

Currituck County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Holmes, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-7.

Currituck County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. Holmes also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Northeastern at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th.
