Volleyball Recap: Legacy Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Legacy Academy waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Silverbacks were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the SonBlazers, so the Silverbacks were just returning the favor.

Legacy Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Mesilla Valley Christian School between 15 and 17 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-17, 25-16.

Raelynn Trujillo was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 16 digs.

Legacy Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Legacy Academy's record now sits at 9-2. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, their loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Legacy Academy will venture away from home to face off against Crownpoint at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, after both having extra time off, they and New Mexico Military Institute will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
