Volleyball Recap: Whitewater Wildcats vs. Oconee County Warriors
Whitewater was the 2-0 winner over Oconee County when they last played one another back in September of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Whitewater Wildcats fell just short of the Oconee County Warriors by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.
Whitewater started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. After all that action, the final score was 18-25, 27-25, 15-3.
Even though they lost, Whitewater was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oconee County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fendley Kimbro, who had five digs and two aces. Kimbro is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted eight or more in the last ten games she's played. Braylon Baughcum was another key player, getting 11 digs.
Whitewater now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Oconee County, their record is now 17-12.
Whitewater will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. As for Oconee County, they will face off against Mt. Bethel Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
