Rio Rancho is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Cleveland, who was ranked fifth at the time (Rio Rancho was ranked second). The Rams fell just short of the Storm by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Storm recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Farmington came into Tuesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past Piedra Vista 3-1.

Rio Rancho's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 16-5. As for Farmington, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 14-7.

Rio Rancho came out on top in a nail-biter against Farmington in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
