Baseball Recap: East Lyme Takes Down Ranked South Kingstown

East Lyme is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of South Kingstown. The Vikings skirted past the Rebels 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Aidan Cochrane tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Nick Cambi was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for East Lyme and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for South Kingstown, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Lyme will welcome Griswold at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Kingstown, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Portsmouth at 4:00 p.m.
