Baseball Recap: Seffner Christian Comes Up Short

Seffner Christian had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it eight. They came up short against the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Crusaders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Santa Fe Catholic, their record now sits at 4-2. Considering they have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Santa Fe Catholic's part, Jameson McGuire was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. McGuire has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Santa Fe Catholic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-2 otherwise.

Looking ahead, Seffner Christian is taking a road trip to take on Bell Creek Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Fe Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
