Basketball Game Preview: Los Alamos Hilltoppers vs. Penasco Panthers

The Los Alamos Hilltoppers will square off against the Penasco Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Los Alamos has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 26.

Last Thursday, Los Alamos came up short against Capital and fell 51-42.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Penasco). They blew past Clayton 52-17 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted since March 8, 2024.

Penasco's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Los Alamos, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Los Alamos strolled past Penasco in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 60-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Los Alamos since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
