Basketball Game Preview: Wayne County Cardinals vs. McCreary Central Raiders

The Wayne County Cardinals will face off against the McCreary Central Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Wayne County beat Rockcastle County 56-52. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Rockets are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McCreary Central has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 66-58 to Somerset Christian on Tuesday.

McCreary Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Wayne County, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Wayne County was able to grind out a solid victory over McCreary Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 51-38. Does Wayne County have another victory up their sleeve, or will McCreary Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
