Softball Recap: Abilene Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Abilene and Birdville squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Abilene had to settle for second. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Eagles haven't been shut out since back in March.

Avah Reyes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abilene saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinzley Cantu, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Abilene's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-11. As for Birdville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 30-4.

Abilene does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Birdville, they will face off against Aledo on Saturday. The Bearcats will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
