Softball Game Preview: Bellarmine Prep Lions vs. River Ridge Hawks

The Bellarmine Prep Lions will venture away from home to take on the River Ridge Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bellarmine Prep has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bellarmine Prep's last matchup with Cascade Christian could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Lions came up short against the Cougars, falling 17-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

Central Kitsap hit River Ridge with a six-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hawks lost 12-2 to the Cougars. The Hawks have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

River Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylah Sok Vandergriff, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

The loss was their first on the road, dropping their record down to 3-6. As for Bellarmine Prep, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 6-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bellarmine Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like River Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Bellarmine Prep might still be hurting after the 18-5 loss they got from River Ridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
