Softball Recap: Kennett Comes Up Short

Kennett had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-8 to make it six. They came up short against the Downingtown West Whippets, falling 12-2. The Blue Demons were not able to make up for their loss to the Whippets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Kennett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Molly Spisak, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Downingtown West, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Downingtown West, who have now won six games by nine runs or more so far this season.

On Downingtown West's side, Kiri Weidner looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Weidner has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kenzi Noles was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Casey McWilliams, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Looking ahead, Kennett will face off against Great Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Downingtown West, they will square off against Henderson at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Whippets are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
