The countdown is complete. Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) begins the season ranked No. 1 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 Preseason National Baseball Rankings, and the Mavericks are just one of many Florida teams to crack our preseason Top 100.

A total of 20 Florida teams are in the top 100, edging out California which has 18. Texas is third with nine teams while Georgia is fourth with six.

Here's a look at the MaxPreps Top 100 to kick things off, also with mention of where each team finished last season in the MaxPreps Computer Rankings.

Outlook:  Gainesville has come close the past two seasons, but hasn't quite been able to get over the hump in the playoffs. Sporting a lineup that includes Gettys, possibly the best all-around position player in the nation, Gainesville could get the championship that has been so elusive.
