Charlotte Latin entered their tilt with Mountain Island Charter on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Raptors.

Cooper Holland tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Hudson Shoup was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Brayden Hampton, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Charlotte Latin's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Mountain Island Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charlotte Latin will host Cannon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mountain Island Charter, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pine Lake Prep at 6:30 p.m.
