Softball Recap: Southwick Regional Gets the Win

Southwick Regional owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Holyoke Purple Knights. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Purple Knights back in April, they had to take a 9-5 loss.

Not much got past Anna Novak, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep Holyoke off the board. Novak has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Southwick Regional let Bri-Anna Gilday and Brooke Comee run wild. Gilday went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Comee went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Southwick Regional's record now sits at 7-10. As for Holyoke, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Southwick Regional will head out to square off against Hampden Charter School of Science at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holyoke does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
