Baseball Recap: Ajo Has No Trouble Against New Way Learning Academy

Ajo made up a huge gap compared to their last game against New Way Learning Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Red Raiders blew past the Bulldogs 22-5 on Wednesday. The contest marked the Red Raiders' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Malin Lewis was a standout: he fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Ajo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Crimzyn Lenard was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

Ajo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Ajo back to even at 3-3. As for New Way Learning Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ajo will welcome Tohono O'Odham at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.6 runs per game on average), something the Red Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for New Way Learning Academy, they will host Flagstaff Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
