Recap: Bountiful RedHawks vs. Brighton Bengals
On Friday, the Bountiful RedHawks faced the Brighton Bengals in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bountiful narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Brighton 57-54. Winning may never get old, but Bountiful sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Bountiful was led to victory by Taylor Harvey and Milika Satuala. Harvey scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds, while Satuala scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Harvey has scored at least 25% of Bountiful's points. Adelaide Stevenson was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 3 steals.
Brighton's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Olivia Stephens, who scored 18 points. Stephens scored a full 33.3% of Brighton's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Workman, who scored 15 points along with 5 assists.
Brighton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bountiful pulled down 12.
Bountiful's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Brighton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bountiful will be home for the holidays to greet Ridgeline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brighton will take on Bingham at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Bingham is ranked 14th, while Brighton is ranked 17th).
