Basketball Recap: Community School of Davidson Spartans vs. Christ the King Crusaders

If Community School of Davidson was feeling good fresh off their 64-35 takedown of Pine Lake Prep last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Community School of Davidson Spartans took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Christ the King Crusaders on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 54-52 loss two weeks ago.

Community School of Davidson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Olivia Stewart, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Downey, who put up ten points.

Christ the King's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucy Gorman led the charge by putting up 15 points along with seven assists and six steals. Gorman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Rosie Gorman was another key player, scoring 16 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds.

Community School of Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Christ the King, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Community School of Davidson will head out on the road to take on East Surry at 7:00 p.m. on February 25th. East Surry will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Community School of Davidson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Christ the King, they have already played their next contest, a 55-34 loss against Lincoln Charter on the 21st.
