Volleyball Recap: River Valley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Lancaster on Tuesday, River Valley came back down to earth. The Blackhawks fell just short of the Richland Center Hornets by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Blackhawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

River Valley actually scored more points across those five sets (102-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 15-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-10.

Brooklyn Stokes paced River Valley's offense, picking up 16 kills. Stokes got some help from Josie Mahoney and her 30 assists. Paige Stafford controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

River Valley suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 11-7. As for Richland Center, they moved to 6-8 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Coming up, River Valley will venture away from home to face off against Dodgeville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Richland Center, they will be taking part in a tournament against Pardeeville at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
