Recap: P.K. Yonge Blue Wave vs. Newberry Panthers
The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave entered their tilt with the Newberry Panthers with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. P.K. Yonge enjoyed a cozy 57-42 win over Newberry on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as P.K. Yonge also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2017.
P.K. Yonge found their leader in underclassman Ashlyn Young, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. Summer Barnett was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
P.K. Yonge pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Newberry, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. P.K. Yonge will face off against Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Newberry's road trip will continue as they head out to face The Rock at 4:30 p.m. on January 18th. The Rock has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
