Baseball Recap: Auburn Gets the Win

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Auburn and Riverton have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Hawks a 7-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Not much got past Brady Boylen, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Riverton off the board.

On the hitting side, Auburn's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Kessler, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Those two runs gave Kessler a new career-high. Evan Kessler was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Auburn's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Riverton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Auburn has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Maroa-Forsyth on the 1st. As for Riverton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central on the 30th.
